Privacy Policy

Contacts (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a phone dialer for Android that can replace your phone’s built-in phone app. It is built so that your contacts and call history stay on your phone. This policy explains what the app uses, which outside services receive data, and the choices you have. For any question about it, email our support address, magnusaaron424@gmail.com.
1. The short version
- No account and no sign-up. We have no server, so your contacts and call history are never uploaded to us.
- The app reads your contacts and call history on your phone so it can work as your phone app.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob, and purchases go through Google Play. Those services receive data as described in section 3.
- Location is off unless you turn it on in the app.
- We never sell personal information.
- An email reaches us only when you choose to send one from your own email app.
2. Information the app uses
Call history
With your permission, the app reads your phone’s call history to show your recent calls, the details of each call, the screen that appears after a call ends and your call statistics. It deletes entries from your call history only when you ask it to. When you export your call history, the app saves a CSV, PDF or JSON file to the Downloads folder on your phone; nothing is uploaded.
Contacts
With your permission, the app reads your contacts to show names and photos, search, list your favourites and suggest matches as you dial. When you use Merge Duplicate Contacts, it combines the phone numbers and email addresses of the contacts you choose into one contact. Adding or editing a contact opens Android’s own contacts editor. Sharing a contact creates a contact card file only for the app you share it with.
Phone and calls
When you set the app as your default phone app, it places and answers calls through Android’s telephony system and shows its own call screen. It reads your phone’s state and SIM information to show which SIM a call used and to let you choose a SIM for a number. It uses Android’s “Appear on top” permission so the call details screen can open by itself after a call.
Blocked numbers
Numbers you block are stored in Android’s own blocked-numbers list on your phone, which Android uses to reject those calls.
Caller region
For a number that isn’t in your contacts, the app may show the region the number belongs to. This is worked out on your phone from the number itself, without sending the number anywhere.
Approximate location
Location is off by default. If you turn on Location Permission in the app’s Privacy Settings and allow approximate location, that location may be collected and shared with the advertising service described in section 3 for analysis and measurement. The app does not use your precise location. You can turn this off again at any time.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app uses them for incoming and ongoing calls and for the quick-actions notification that opens your recent calls, dialpad, call insights and favourites.
Settings on your phone
Your settings are stored on your phone. They include your language and theme, the numbers and names you assign to speed dial, the SIM you chose for particular numbers, and whether ads are currently removed. If you have Android’s device backup turned on, Android may include these settings in your own Google backup and restore them on a new phone.
3. Services that receive data
When the app uses one of these services, the service receives what it needs plus normal connection details such as your IP address, and its own privacy policy applies.
- Advertising. The app shows ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device’s advertising ID, an approximate location based on your IP address, device information and how you interact with ads, and approximate device location if you turned on the location option above. See how Google uses data from apps that use its services. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent through Google’s consent message before personalised ads are shown. Removing ads stops ad requests.
- Purchases. The one-time Remove ads purchase is handled by Google Play. We only learn whether the purchase is active on your Google account, never your payment details. The Rate us option opens the app’s Google Play page.
- Apps you choose. Sending a text message, writing an email, starting a video call or sharing a contact or an export opens the app you pick, such as your messaging app, email app or WhatsApp. That app handles what you send under its own policy. Links to this policy and the terms open in your browser.
4. Emails you send us
Our support email is magnusaaron424@gmail.com. It is also shown in the app under About us. You can write to it from any email app, or from the app with Feedback in Settings or Contact us in About us. Each opens your own email app with a message addressed to us, and nothing is sent until you send it. We use what you write only to reply, fix problems and improve the app, and delete it when it is no longer needed or when you ask.
5. What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent personal information.
- We don’t upload your contacts, call history or blocked numbers to servers of our own.
- We don’t record calls.
- We don’t add analytics or crash-reporting tools of our own to the app.
6. Keeping and deleting data
Your contacts, call history and blocked numbers are kept by Android, not by the app, so they stay on your phone if you uninstall it. Clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it removes the app’s own settings. Exported files stay in your Downloads folder until you delete them. A copy of the app’s settings in your Google backup follows your Android backup settings. To have an email you sent us deleted, write to us from the same address.
7. Your choices
- Turn phone, call history, contacts, notification and “Appear on top” access on or off in Android Settings. Features that need them stop working while they are off.
- Turn the location option off in the app under Settings › Privacy Settings, or remove location access in Android Settings.
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings. Where consent rules apply, you make your ad consent choice in Google’s consent message, and you can change it at any time in the app under Settings › Ad privacy options.
- Remove ads for three days by watching a rewarded video, or for good with the one-time purchase.
- Choose another default phone app in Android Settings at any time.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete information about you. Email magnusaaron424@gmail.com and we will help.
8. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email magnusaaron424@gmail.com and we will delete it.
9. Security
Google’s advertising and purchase services are reached over encrypted connections. Because your contacts and call history stay on your phone, a screen lock on your phone protects them too.
10. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. We may also point out important changes in the app or on its store listing.
